Art Therapy
"Art therapy uses art media, the creative process, and the resulting artwork as a therapeutic and healing process." -ATCB
Samaritan Counseling Center is home to 11 art therapists! We have a large concentration of art therapists ready to assist with a different brand of therapy services utilizing art-making methods and creative expression.
Art therapy is offered by SCC clinicians who have received specialized graduate degree training and supervision. Staff therapists with the credentials ATR and ATR-P offer art therapy services. No art experience is required to participate in art therapy services. This approach to therapy is a great option when it is challenging to talk about concerns, to get a deeper understanding of a person's identity/dreams/issues/past, and so much more. Art-making can be an effective alternative form of communication and a window into the unconscious, or the other hard to reach places of our emotions, thoughts, past history, or future worries and excitement. We are proud to have many art therapists on staff who each bring a different perspective to our practice. If you have any questions about art therapy, please reach out for more information.
